Midnight Rain started as a studio project of two long time friends and experienced musicians: Boris Šurlan (Raven, Abandon) and Vlad Invictus (Claymorean). Graduated as one of the best students in sound design and music production at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade, Boris started producing songs at his home studio, simply called „Midnight“. In 2010 he asked Vlad Invictus, guitarist of epic power metal band Claymorean, to join forces and make some music that was different from their previous bands. They composed their first song „Get Out of My System“ in summer of 2010, but soon came the idea that this project called „Midnight Rain“ should involve as many as possible different musicians.  During the first three years of the project, eleven musicians entered the Midnight Studio and total of eight songs were recorded and produced for the debut album called „Evolution I“. Claymore is independent female-fronted epic power metal band from Lazarevac, Serbia. The band released two albums - “The First Dawn of Sorrow” (2003) and “Lament of Victory” (2013). The music of Claymore can be described as mix of traditional European power metal with epic filmscore influences in the same vein with Manowar, Nightwish, Rhapsody of Fire, Bal-Sagoth, Dragonland and Virgin Steele, just to name a few. The band was formed in 1994 by its original member Vlad Invictus (guitars and vocals). After many line up changes during the entire decade, the band  finally recorded its debut album “The First Dawn of Sorrow” in 2003, which was released on CD and cassete for a Serbian record label “One Records”. The material itself was raw and homemade, but songs quickly found their way to listeners on a radio show called “Demo express 202”. Midnight Rain is a project which gathers talented and versatile musicians. Music of Midnight Rain can be described as eclectic hard rock, but it consists of various genres, from blues rock and jazz to progressive rock and metal. Debut album called “Evolution I” features 13 musicians. Each of 8 songs is ilustrated with beautiful concept art made by Nevena Lazarević. Project will continue with the studio work exclusively, promising to bring its compositions to a new level of sound and imagination. Creators of Midnight Rain are Boris Šurlan and Vlad Invictus.
