Bewitcher – Satanic Panic Demo
THE BEWITCHER MANIFESTO: Rock n' Roll is the devil's music, and heavy metal is its bastard child. In the 1980's, the radical fundamentalist Christian right-wing in America waged a war against this music, bringing its practitioners and it's unholy muse to the forefront of the public consciousness. This futile effort by parents and politicians to protect their children from this dark and vital art form has since become known as the "Satanic Panic".
20+ years later, the devil's rock n' roll is still alive and well, but the war is far from over... In the year of Thirteen of Satan's third millennium, a new force rises to defend the ways of old. Bewitcher has chosen to name their first demo "Satanic Panic", in reference to that bygone era when metal was still dangerous and not yet populated by the cry baby emo-kid, straight-edge nonsense of this modern age. Instead they look to the past, when heavy metal in all its glory truly represented the tenets it was founded upon.
May your children be corrupted, may your foundations be shaken, and may your mundane existences be forever altered, for this spell cannot be broken. Fall and obey! And beware the curse of the Bewitcher!
And aswering to what are their next plan after Satanic Panic release, they currently working on the second demo, which they plan to have done before year's end. It will be a bit longer than the first one, maybe 5-6 songs. The Portland based band will start auditioning drummers and getting ready to play live gigs early next year. "Of course after that, it's anybody's guess what will happen but we're determined to go the distance with Bewitcher and the response so far has been awesome", says Matt, frontman of this band.
Futhermore, Matt explains deeper about what is Satanic Panic means. He stated is a reference to the movement in the 1980's where a group of politicians' wives in the US used religious ideology to forward an agenda of censorship, basically (see the 'Bewitcher Manifesto). It goes deeper than that, but it was more or less a series of witch-hunts, which why they chose the album artwork that they did. Musically, Bewitcher is all about harkening back to the era when metal achieved perfection. Bathory, Venom, Motorhead, and the NWOBHM provide our inspiration. There are hidden meanings and messages in all of our artwork, music, and lyrics. But at the end of the day we're a heavy metal band...we write about dirty women, Satan, witchcraft and of course, metal!
For those metalheads blasting Venom, Bathory, Motorhead, Celtic Frost, Candlemass, Mercyful Fate and Diamond Head.
